The kids and Chef Desireé have fun in the kitchen preparing vegetables for maki rolls and learning to stir fry without a wok. They also discuss different types of rice and how to cook and season it. Finally, they prepare a delectable dipping sauce.

In this episode, the kids learn several cooking methods and apply those methods to several entrées. Chef Desireé shows them how to make “Grandma” Bread, sear fish (Walleye), deep fry chicken wings, and braise beef and vegetables for a stew.

About the Chef
Desireé Dorwart spent much of
her youth at her parent’s restaurant. She has a BA in Psychology and
attended the New England Culinary Institute in Vermont. Since 2001 she
has been an instructor of the culinary arts at The Art Institutes
International Minnesota in Minneapolis. Desireé and her husband,
Philip, who is also a chef, own Create, a catering company. They also
have an organic farm where they plan to start a Community Supported
Agriculture program with an emphasis on education.
